Multi-step loading with state retained from the first loading step
« on: September 22, 2020, 02:41:19 AM »
Dear Professor Taylor,
dear FEAP Admin,

I am trying to simulate a problem using FEAP 8.3 in which I apply the following:
1. Compress along Z direction at certain nodes.
2. Retaining the compressed displacement from step 1, apply tension along Y direction on the same nodes.

I tried solution from http://feap.berkeley.edu/forum/index.php?topic=1190.msg3873#msg3873 , but after 'BATCH MESH END' the nodes at which compression is applied as per Step 1 is again reinitialized with displacement zeros instead of displacements due to compression. I have attached a sample input file that I am currently using.

Regards

ver8.3 is difficult to control some of the steps.  Try looking at the command NEWF to see if you can achiever what you want to do.

ver8.3 is quite old.  I suggest upgrading to the latest version, version 8.6.
