tensile test
« on: January 02, 2013, 05:23:37 AM »
Hi there, I have some problems when doing the 3d tensile test simulation, when it is elastic both in small and finite deformation cases the results given by FEAP is comparable with the results that I got from Marc, when I include plasticity (linear isotropic hardening), the simulation somehow blows up as I got the No Convergence warning in the output file, I referred to the user manual to see where I made the mistakes, but still I couldnt figure out where went wrong, I attached the input files, I am quite new with FEAP and any comments and hints would be appreciated.

best regards
Haul

Your load steps are huge!
At the dt your have selected the 'elastic' stress in one step exceeds the yield stress; thus you have generated a rather nonlinear problem.

Try the following:
(1) Change dt to 0.005
(2) Now loop over 200 time steps
(3) Use line search during the Newton process, i.e. change tang,,1 to tang,line,1
