Dear FEAP users,
I am trying to implement infinite domain elements in FEAP 8.6 for use in dynamic, finite deformations mechanical problems. My references are Marques and Owen 1984 and Li et al. 2022 (
https://doi.org/10.1080/23248378.2022.2069171). The particular element (in 3D) is the 8 node isoparametric element, which has 4 fictitious nodes at infinity.
The test case, a rod with all transverse DOFs fixed, converges well. However, the response from an impulse load reflects off of the infinite side of the rod, when there should be no reflections. Can anyone share insights to why I am getting reflections?
