Cube under compression
« on: October 07, 2022, 01:23:30 AM »
Dear all,

I would like to simulate a cube under compression, where loading is applied to only one half of the top surface. I thought about defining two regions regions and applying the load to only one of them. However, I am facing some problems with this. Attached you find the input file.

Thanks in advance for any help

You cannot tie blocks in which one has a specified displacement and the other does not.

The easiest way to apply over part of the block is to us CSURface with a DISP specification. You can define the patch (be sure to use right hand rule on points so normal points outward) where you want the displacements.  You do not need to use two blocks.

The user manual should give all the information on how to do a patch on a 3-d solid.
