Free vibration
« on: December 05, 2022, 07:19:25 AM »
Dear FEAP's Admin,

Currently, my intention is to create an input file for a plate under free vibration without putting any load. After that I use modal solution to find the eigenvectors and the eigenvalues as well as plot the eigenmodes. However, I am facing many problems on this task. Could you please take your time to have a look at the input file and tell me what I should do in this case?

Thank you so much and I am waiting for your reply.

Sincerely

Prof. R.L. Taylor

First, you are using a SOLId element, you need to use a PLATe element for plate vibration.  I have modified your file to just output the first 4-mode shapes for the 1-displacement component.

You do not need modal or time unless you are doing a solution for some loading.  If you replace the solid by a plate (with some thickness too) you should see the "w" displacement contours.
